Giving you a mini family update. Things have not been the greatest around the Dennis house hold. Jay got a staff infection on his butt (diaper rash that got infected). He was admitted to the hospital where they had to drain it and give him IV antibiotics and sent him home with 10 days of antibiotics. Robbyn spent most of the time in the hospital with him and she may edit and or write her own post later to give the highs lows etc of his stay. He is home and doing well all healed.
A few days after his discharge (October 12, 2009) my friend and one of the kids God Mother's Gail lost her battle with breast cancer. We made it to the hospice house moments after she passed away. Laylah said goodbye to her "sleeping" goddie as we called her. We told her she feels no more pain and that one day we will see her again. Jay is to young to remember her but I am waiting for the questions to come in a few months when she realizes she has not seen her in awhile. I am happy she is no longer in pain it got really bad toward the end but so sad to have lost a really good friend. I knew her since the 7th grade and she has been there for most of the major events in my life. She was only 30 and the world lost a great person.
A week has passed and I am still sad but getting better each day.
Looking forward to moving on.
On Sunday the kids will be trick or treating at Beachwood. We prefer that than door to door. Laylah will be a witch and Jay an lion. We will post the pictures and updates

Chuck E. Cheese--July 2009

After turning three Laylah was ready for big adventures---Chuck E. Cheese included. Jayden just liked the pizza.

Touch exhibit at Akron Zoo----July

Laylah really enjoyed touching aquatic life at the touch exhibit. I can't wait to get her home to St. Thomas so she can touch sea cucumbers, and swim in the fresh salt water. Her abuela(grandma---Rey's mom) will enjoy making her a beach baby and the warm sand and water exercise is great for my weight and arthritis.

Akron Zoo---July

Our trip to Akron Zoo was wonderful. Because of it's smaller size we were able to see the entire zoo in one day without meltdowns, crying, or over exertion(my body doesn't allow me to do that much). Laylah saw her beloved penguins and Jay still has the same reaction he does at Cleveland Zoo---he growls at all the big cats.lol

Parade the Circle---June @ University Circle

The whole family (and of course my roady and BFF Erika) took in the parade and enjoyed a picninc lunch. It was a most perfect outing.

Everyone look this way! (Take two---aka, The Zoo)

"Okay! What a lovely day to go to the zoo! Let's roll." That's what we said to each other two weekends ago. We packed the car and head to Akron. Why Akron?Because Laylah is highly upset that Cleveland Zoo does not have any of her favorite animals, penguins. All was going well. We drove following the directions perfectly, UNTIL, Rey says hey lets make a change of plans, instead of following the directions, let's get off at this exit because it has a zoo sign. We get off at the exit drive through a less than attractive group of neighborhoods, turn at a sign that was nearly hidden by overgrowth of a tree, go through two detour signs, and fear that we have missed the zoo. In boredom we comment on the houses, when suddenly we come upon a very nice new complex (after passing very poor rundown housing for 15 minutes) I point out to Rey the number of houses in the complex with porch chairs and signs of happy dwellers. Long story short another 14 minutes later and a stop at a gas station for directions which send us in a square formation right back to the new housing development reveals that the zoo was in a hidden drive across from the development. It was my fault this time. Moral of the story---Everybody look on your own side of the car. Lol!

Everyone look this way! (Prelude)

Okay---Our family is know for being on the move! If it has an address we will find it, or not! In order to fully appreciate the story to follow, we must backtrack to the year 2001. It was the fall of 2001, the Dennis family was still residing in Atlanta, Georgia. My mom came down from Cleveland for a visit and we then decided to make a quick trip to Tennessee to check on the grave of her mother, my grandmother. As we drove the winding country road of the battlecreek area, Rey says to my mother, "Didn't you say it's in the battlecreek area? We must be getting close. Look at that cute little church on the left. It's named, "Battlecreek church!" Oh course, we all three look to the left. Fifteen minutes later with no sign of the graveyard or human lifeform, my mother begs Rey to turn the car around and back track. What could have happened? Bingo! Rey made us all look out the left side of the car at precisely the moment that we passed the graves on the right. Gotta love him!

Kids say the darndest things

So, today I had to take Laylah with me to the restroom while mommy checked out at the store with Jay. I was sitting there playing my Zuma (video game) on my cell phone while discretly taking care of some urgent elimination, when Laylah leaned over looked at the screen and said, "Daddy what pretty balls", loudly in the crowded bathroom.
Then, when we left, after meeting up with her mom in the checkout lane, she proclaimed to her loudly (in the middle of Walmart) that she went pee pee in the potty and that Daddy went poopie.
Guess who is never going with Daddy to the bathroom ever again?

Strawberry picking!!!!

What can I say? It was berry sweet! This year was twice as fun as last year was with the addition of Jayden. He picked several strawberries, squished one, and ate one. He had a terrific time. I was actually awed that he didn't crawl away from where we sat him. What a sweetheart.lol

The adoption is final!!!!!!

It has been a very long haul, but it's finally over. We are all healthy and happy and a complete family! This morning at 10:30 AM we got the legal justification----We are a family! Godmommy Erika, Goddaddy Akil and Grandma Clara were along for the date! Our prayers have been answered. Tomorrow we have an appointment with the minister to see when Jayden's baptisim can be scheduled. Things are moving along smoothly and swiftly.

Cons: Poor Construction

Describe Yourself: Parent Of Two Or More Children

We bought this today and already it is broken. The adhesive on the Velcro is not strong. In less than an half hour it came off several pieces. No danger for her but for her younger brother he could swallow and choke. Also it is no longer reusable if the Velcro is not on. I will be returning it tomorrow.
